Year changing on songs when I download them

I like to organize my songs by the year they came out. I noticed that when I download songs, the year they were released changes from being in the 80s to being in the 2000's or 2010's. Very annoying and I was wondering if there is a way to change the release date info on all of the songs to the correct information simultaneously.

Windows, Windows 10

If you use iTunes (the programme on your computer), you can edit in bulk by selecting all the songs you wish to change and clicking on Edit/Get Info. There will be a warning that you're changing information for multiple items - it's there to try and prevent you from changing things in error.

So, Edit/Get Info/Details>Year and type in the year you prefer.
