Internet calls = no one can hear me!

Hey,

My phone works perfectly well on a normal call and people can hear me. When I then call someone on a phone app like whatsapp, skype etc no one can hear me :( do we know why this is?

iPhone 6s, iOS 13

You may not have enabled microphone for those apps.
