Backup a Mac

Can I backup a Mac using iCloud only like iPhone or do I need to use time machine?

Mac mini 2018 or later

If you want to backup your Mac, you will need to use an external drive and TimeMachine.

If you use iCloud on your Mac, it is a sync service. You can use it to sync e.g. photos and files
