Is there a way to block iMessages to/from someone else with an iPhone?

Is there a way to block iMessages to/from someone else with an iPhone? If you block a contact through Setting-Messages does it only block texts sent via SMS/MMS or does it block iMessages as well?

iPad mini, iOS 9

Hey,

When you block a contact, this includes SMS/MMS and iMessages.
