Is there a way to make attachments in Mail "open to read" in the body of the email?

How to attach an attachment as an icon and NOT within the body of an email in Mail? Attachments appear within the body of an email by anyone receiving the email generated by Mail. That is NOT acceptable. I want the attachment to appear as an attachment to the email, not within the body of an email received by the recipient. Any ideas how to fix this?

Can't open older attachments in Mail Hi, I cannot ope attachments in older emails. I can see the attached as per below, but not sure how to get it to open. <JSteel SSP - CR Omega Section Spec Sheet.pdf> Can anyone advise me on this. Thank you Sharon

Apple Mail - put off preview of attachments. I have been using apple mail for some time but I find it quite annoying that the preview of attachments is displayed one moment it is an attachment and the next it is a preview again, this is sometimes very mixed up. How can I turn this off or change that apple mail only shows my attachments as a symbol and not as a complete preview?

Thanks. That works sometimes but not always. Not sure why it is selective.
