Using my email instead of number

When I got my phone I had a temporary number and when I text on normal message and call it’s my old number however when I use iMessage or FaceTime it’s the temporary number, I would prefer it to be my old number, and I tried to change it in settings and now for FaceTime or iMessage it’s uses my email, how can I prevent this from happening?
