Resolution - Macbook Pro late 2012 with 4k Monitor of Samsung
I cannot setup the resolution of the monitor (3840 × 2160) from my Macbook Pro - Retina- late 2012. The monitor is a Samsung U28H750.

Your model supports:
External Resolution Up to 1920 by 1080 pixels (HDMI) Up to 2560 by 1600 pixels (Thunderbolt)

I'm using HDMI and it doesn't help me to get the maximum resolution of the monitor. I'm having as option 1080 x 900.
I do not know why you are having the problem unless this is the resolution your TV supports on HDMI.
