Virus and internet connection

For a while my google chrome has been changing to ‘any search ads.com’ and I know this is a kind of virus. I have followed guidelines to remove it from the laptop.

The last week, my internet won’t connect. Nothing wrong with the WiFi, I think it has to do with the virus.

Any ideas how to fix this problem please?

thanks

Hannah

The message implies a bad proxy address.

If not, try following through this:

If your Mac doesn't connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi - Apple Support

Try Safari, and see if that works better.

Usual shenanigans here are a proxy within the browser as implied by the error, or maybe a bad DNS setting.

Though some adware and malware can be more involved to remove.
