how do I get photos for screen saver on my Apple TV

You can choose photos from your iCloud library (go into photos, select an album and set as screensaver, a small batch will be cached), your computer (using home sharing, choose photos to share, computer would remain on while photos cache), or aerial/stock photos (selected via Apple TV settings - screensaver).
