I’ve deleted barely all my messages and messages still use more than 16 GB!
How can I solve this issue?

Did you just delete it? Sometimes it takes a little while to update how much storage is being taken up.

I’ve just checked again... still 16 GB
I can tell that it isn't really taking up that much space, there's under 40MB being taken up. Have you tried restarting your phone? This might help.
