Help with text messages
my mom does not have an iPhone so when we text, iMessages aren’t an option. I can only receive and send text messages when my cellular data is on. This has never happened to me, how do I fix it?!

MMS messaging requires cellular data. SMS messages use the cellular voice connection.

iMessage only works between two AppleIDs, normally two iOS devices.
What you explain is normal; when exchanging messages with someone with a non-iOS device or an AppleID, the message is sent as an SMS text message.
