How do I completely remove GarageBand before installing new version (10.3.3)?

I currently have GarageBand 10.1.2 installed on my MacBook running Catalina.

How do I do a complete un-install of GarageBand so that I can download and install version 10.3.3? Is it just a matter of drag & dropping it from Applications into the Bin? Or are there other preference, config, plist, library, etc. items that I need to remove too so that the old version doesn't interfere with the new version?

Appreciate any help that can be provided.

Thanks!

It is a pity, if you uninstalled the old loops and sounds, at least, if you previously had an iLife version of GarageBand. The new GarageBand version has very different instruments and loop from the previous version. Fr example, there are nearly no midi loops. You could have left the older loops and sounds installed and just removed the application.

If you previously created projects with GarageBand '11 or GarageBand '09, you may now have plenty of missing sounds and loops, when you open older projects. If that happens, you will have to restore the older sounds and loops from the backup you made, before you updated to GarageBand 10.3.3..

That is a good point to raise and I can imagine it would be a concern for anyone using GarageBand for music production, however I am only creating podcasts so instruments and loops aren't needed in my projects. I created a song using instrument loops in GarageBand on my iPad some time ago and exported it as an MP3 which I drop into my podcast, but I needed version 10.3.3 to correct an issue where imported audio files were being compressed and sounded like they were playing in fast forward.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. 😊
