How to transfer iPad files to external hard drive

Is it possible to transfer files FROM the iPad Air 3 to an external hard drive directly without using iCloud ? I have the camera/ usb dongle but the external hard drive is not showing up, even if I power it. My sad card reader is transferring files ONTO the iPad Air 3 just fine.

Hello,


Most likely your drive is formatted in a way that is not compatible with iPad.


iPadOS 13 supports the following disk formats with a GUID partition scheme:

  • macOS Extended journaled — YES Read and Write
  • APFS - YES Read and Write
  • FAT32 — NO
  • exFAT — NO
  • NTFS — NO
