Can't update my iphone 4s to ios 9

I downloaded the ios file but it says that the firmware is not compatible

No. You can't. iOS 7 is the end of the line. If you had apps installed previously, they would have continued to work fine. After erasing the phone, the apps have to be re-downloaded from the App Store. Unfortunately, the app developer no longer makes it available for older versions of iOS.


That phone is obsolete. It is now 6 major versions behind in iOS updates. It was discontinued in 2013.


It's time for a new phone.
