Remote app does not show Now Playing song in Music MacOS 10.16

A problem seems associated with the Catalina upgrade in MacOS X 10.16 ...

background: for multiple years I have routinely used the Remote app on my iPhone and iPad to control the music flow from iTunes in an AirTunes mode through remote speakers.

With the new SW versions switching iTunes to Music with 10.16, the Remote app is able to discover the library as it has in the past, I can browse through the library, but am unable to show the current song or initiate control of the music.

  1. The "Now Playing" screen is otherwise blank wiht the label "Not Playing", as if it believes no music is streaming.
  2. while I can browse through the various folders and playlists, and see their apparently full content, I can not start music from those pages

I came across this question because I was trying to figure out why Music activity wasn't showing up in the Now Playing Notification Center Widget on macOS Catalina 10.15.1 (19B88). Reauthorizing my Mac and/or Signing Out/In to Music (both under the Account menu), and then quitting and reopening Music got its activity to appear in the Now Playing widget. This also restored the ability of my Beats headphones to control Music via Bluetooth.
