Updated iPad and iPhone to iOS 13.1.2. Had been using iOS 12.x.x. iMessaging on iPad is no longer using phone number and has defaulted to using AppleID for messages. Prior to this update I was able to choose whether to use phone number or AppleID. Process must have changed in IOS13. How can I add my phone number back to the iPad?

Please verify that Messages is enabled on both your iPhone and iPad in Settings > Tap your account > iCloud.
Please verify that iMessage is enabled on your iPhone and iPad in Settings > Messages.
Please verify that Text Message forwarding is enabled on your iPhone in Settings > Messages.
Yes, I have an iPhone. I used to be able to see the sames texts/messages on both devices. Now that I have updated both devices to IOS 13, this capability is no longer working as it was in the past. I have not been able to figure out how to add my phone number back to the ipad since I have updated to IOS 13.
Yes, Text Message forwarding was disabled! Have been using this capability for years, but stopped working after the update. This 'feature', turning off text forwarding, must have been introduced with IOS 13, as there is no way I would have found and changed this setting.
