Factory Reset without risk to iCloud

Hi, my daughter has updated her iphone and gifted me her old one. Its an iPhone 7. It still contains all her data and although she has Restred the iCloud to her new phone I'm worried that if I factory reset her old one it will erase her data on iCloud. Is there a way to reset her old phone without compromising her iCloud account & data? Thanks

iPhone 7

Have her use her password to sign out of iCloud on that phone, as well as sign out of FaceTime and messaging. Then you can either choose to erase all content and settings from the General menu in settings, or restore as new with iTunes.
