virus alert

virus alert says my " system is seriously damaged, found 4 viruses. " Directing me to "1. download free virus app and 2. download Mac Cleaner to recover system." Should I do this?

Pop up notice about system infected on my computer after logging on to a website every 15 minutes I listed a camera on eBay and a bidder asked a question about the # of images and gave me a web site to verify it. I went to it and another screen popped up about a request to buy virus software. I immediately closed it out. Unfortunately every 15 minutes a notice in the upper right hand corner of my Mac Studio shows a notice of with banners like "System Mac OS is infected", Gmail is infected, etc Nothing seems to have changed in my using the computer. I have tried : restart, shutting down, Disk Utility repair, file fault and it keeps showing. I am old and not the best at this so I need simply directions to what may be a complicated process. Notification pops up in upper right corner of Mac every 5min. Virus? Little notification pops up in upper right corner every 5 mins. First one has a Safari incon and says Remove Viruses from Mac from 19216811.uno Use this tool for Mac protection. Second one says Personal Offer for You. from 19216811.uno. We found 1 offer that might interest you. norton didn’t find anything and Mcaffee didn’t either. Trying bitdefendrr. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Definitely not. There are no viruses that attack the Mac, it is a scam. Ignore it, Macs do not need Anti-Virus apps, nor do they need cleaners or optimisers such as Mac cleaner. Apps like these are more likely to cause problems for your Mac than improve them.

It's even more of a scam for an iOS device.
