Why I don't have the option for software update on my system Preferences
My iMac software is HighSierra 10.13.6 and I don't have the Settings icon and software update feature in my System Preferences. I need to control my software updates. I have several 32-bit apps that I am unable to change at this time, so upgrading must be delayed.
Can anyone tell me how to find the software update feature, so I can turn off automatic updates?
Thanks

The Software Update icon should be on the System Preferences menu, your computer may already be up to date. Click on About This Mac, latest version should be macOS Mojave version 10.14.6.
The System Preferences> Software Update feature was introduced in macOS Mojave.
If you are using High Sierra you access updates via the App Store Updates page.
If you want to switch off Automatic Updates, go to System Preferences> App Store.
Upgrades to newer OS's are never done automatically by the Mac.
