Xs Max portrait mode doesn’t work correctly

Portrait mode doesn’t work on my new Xs Max iPhone. I can’t adjust depth effect and and the front camera doesn’t work at all in portrait mode, optical zoom doesn’t work either and some of the other camera features. Unsure if it’s a software thing or hardware but have reset the phone and have done a software update and it still doesn’t work.
