Can I backup my iPhone even though its screen is broken?

Can I back up my iphone if the screen is unresponsive, but the iphone is still recieveing messages, receiving notifications etc. ?

During the backup procedure, you might be asked for your passcode, and/or Apple ID password. How can you enter those codes if the screen is unresponsive?
