Trying to stop the sharing of contacts

I gave my wife my old iPhone 6 and with the help of a tech at the Apple Store we thought it had been erased and would no longer sync with my iPhone. My contacts, however, are coming up on her iPhone even though I have turned the contacts on my iCloud storage off. How do I stop my contacts from showing up on her iPhone and her deleting these contacts from also deleting them from my phone?
