My iPad is locked, trying to get it unlocked in itunes

How is it locked ?

If you mean you forgotten the passcode to unlock it : If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

If you mean activation lock, what happens when you type in the id and password of the account it's locked to ?
