It will only has the same login password if you have deliberately set it up that way. am[nd that login on one computer could be a regular user on one computer, and an Admin user on another, if you set it up that way.

Especially when administering Preferences for files, the Mac uses user-numbers internally, not names.

Login accounts are strictly local to the computer, and nothing about them is shared with other Macs nearby or with your Apple-ID account.

... And all of these are separate from Apple-ID account and passwords, which are hosted by Apple on the web.

When you say that "the password works on one and not the other", are you referring to the Apple ID password, or to the local user account password?

Two Macs can be associated with the same Apple Account – but have different local passwords, and even different local account names.
