MacOS Tahoe + Safari - white text on white background issue

In MacOS (Tahoe 26.0) and Safari (26, 21622.1.22.11.14), when viewing web pages, often all the text on the page will turn white after a few minutes. On a white background text becomes invisible. It's still there, as confirmed by select all (cmd-A). Once it turns white it will not revert to normal without a page reload.

Additional details:

  • I have all accessibility setting turned off. No zoom. No hover text. No display (i.e. invert colors, etc).
  • I have system set to 'dark mode'. It might be possible this has something to do with it. Perhaps the system thinks the page should be dark and sets font colors white? idk.
  • This is not new. It's been happening for awhile, even pre-update to Tahoe.

One theory is that it may may be triggered by any small animation on the page (i.e. an ad, slideshow element, etc.), and it's a redraw issue, but it's random enough that I have not discerned a clear pattern.

I'm about to give up and start using chrome which I really don't want to do. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!
