When you say the "world shows up," do you mean it is a black screen with a gray globe of the earth rotating?

If so, you are in Internet Recovery mode. There are a number of ways to get there. Have you already tried restarting the device? If so, I assume it keeps going back to Internet Recovery. If this is the case, then the news may not be good. It is possible that your child erased the drive and all of its contents. You will not know until completing the boot to Internet Recovery. Try this.

Select your wireless network from the choose a network pop up and allow the device to boot. Note, this may take some time. Be patient.

Once you boot, you will see the Recovery Assistant. From here you have some options. Ideally, you will be able to choose the Startup Disk and reboot. But if the drive has been erased, you will need to perform an OS reinstall. Note, all data will be lost.

Read this kbase article for more details.

Hope this helps. If you did not have a backup, this is a lesson learned. With luck, the boot volume is simply unselected and resellective it will get you back and running. If the drive has been erased, you can reinstall from internet recovery and set the machine up fresh.

Hope this is helpful.
