Apple Reminders Smart List sort reverts after each section-moving of an item

Everytime I move an item in my Apple Reminders Smart List to another section, my „Sort by“-setting sets itself to „Manual“ instead of staying in „Due Date“, so that I have to change it back manually.

How can I prevent this?

I would like it to remain in the same setting it had before the move.

Avoid dragging items; instead change their attributes

If you move tasks to another section by editing the task’s attribute, the Smart List does not switch to Manual.

Example:

Instead of dragging an item from “Today” to “Tomorrow,” do this:

  1. Tap the task
  2. Edit → Change Due Date
  3. Close

Your Smart List will remain sorted by Due Date.

This is the only way to preserve sort order reliably today.
