Lag in apps iOS 26.1

I recently upgraded my iPhone (now 17 Pro Max) and iPad (Pro 11’ M-5) and both are running iOS 26.1. I am noticing a lot of lag and freezing in apps on both devices. For instance I type a text and the app freezes; I have to close and reopen the app to finish the message. I am having similar experiences in other apps, too, where I am using the app and it freezes; again, I close the app and then reopen it and to continue using it.

Is anyone else noticing this or am I just the lucky one? Thanks!

Issues such as described are often attributable to iCloud synchronisation - potentially due to a poor or unstable network connection.

A restart of your WiFi Router may be helpful. To restart you home router, disconnect power - then wait at least 30 seconds before restarting. When you router has rebooted (which may take several minutes), force-restart your iPad and iPhone:

Hard-restart both devices

Hold Volume Up → Volume Down → Hold Power until the Apple logo appears.

This clears stuck background processes.

Many users report immediate improvement.
