How to recover an unnamed document in Pages on iPhone?

Pages on iPhone. I was editing a document that hadn’t been named yet, hit the back button, the document has disappeared. No trace in recents or in Files, or in iCloud in a browser. Any way to recover?

Nope. Pages does not retain unsaved, unnamed documents. Not on Mac, and not on i/Pad/OS. Next time, the first thing you do before entering any content is to name and save it.

On macOS, a Pages document that is saved initially, will continue to autosave additional content. Fail to save it and the content will be lost upon quitting Pages.

I too have observed Blank Pages documents on my iPhone and iPad Pro, but cannot explain the differences between these operating systems and Pages behavior in contrast to knowing how it works on the Mac. The Pages implementation on i/Pad/OS is different than on the Mac…

Thanks. Lesson learned, better late than never!

What seems odd, though, is when I start a new document that’s blank, then hit the back button, I see it saved in the recents list by the name Blank#.

After the one in question disappeared, I created a new Blank# which took the number right after the previous one, not skipping a number.

I’m just surprised that these Blank documents are being saved when the one I was writing wasn’t saved.
