Password app redundant confirmation prompts for login credentials (password is already saved)

I use the Passwords app as my main password manager. Since iOS26/ iPadOS26, even with long-saved passwords and passwords I’ve just newly created or updated, the next time I login it prompts me whether I want to save it and it only has the password saved, but not the username or email I know for a fact it already has saved.

Why is it doing this? I haven’t changed any of my user behaviours, just updated my OS across all my devices (which are all recent enough to be receiving OS updates).

Disable and re-enable Passwords autofill

Settings → Passwords → Password Options

Turn OFF →

  • Autofill Passwords
  • Turn ON again

Then restart the device.

This forces the new CPF engine to reload the credential mappings.
