FaceTime on your new MacBook Air is crashing on startup due to a configuration or system-level issue, not normal behavior. Start with restarting, correcting Date & Time, and resetting FaceTime preferences. Then test in a new user account and Safe Mode to see if the issue is user-specific or system-wide. Update macOS to the latest version, and if it still crashes everywhere, perform a non-destructive macOS reinstall and contact Apple Support with your crash log. This combination of steps almost always resolves persistent FaceTime crash-on-launch problems on new Macs.
