Saved Search still doesn't work on the Dock

What is the search criteria for the Smart Folder?

com_apple_FileExtensionAttribute is localization placeholder. There is something failing in the localization framework.

Adding any File Extension produces the localization problem.

When I restart, the contents are still there. I think Spotlight reindexes when you restart, so that may be why it is not showing anything, but I couldn’t reproduce that part and confirmed that Spotlight was indexing.

Can you elaborate a bit on what the "localization problem" you refer to is?

The "com_apple_FileExtensionAttribute" in the contextual menu has not been replaced with localized text. It should be replaced with "File Extension" in English systems. I don't know what it would be in Portuguese.

If you don't create a search folder using the "File Extension is ____" criteria, it won't show up in that menu.

When you add search criteria to a Search Folder and put it in the Dock, it adds those criteria to the Sort by list in the contextual menu.

I buried the criteria inside and "All of the following are true" group and this is what shows up in the Contextual menu:

I had read too quickly, on my iPhone, and had missed the issue completely... I see that it is the name of the metadata item for file extension, and not file extension per se, that is not being properly localized.

I am Portuguese, from Portugal, not Brazil.

There are different localizations for each language version, and I always use my system in English, but I will do a test later today, to see if I can reproduce the issue on either localization.

No problem here. Just dragged a Smart Folder to the Dock for testing, restarted and it worked fine.

(FWIW, this is the first and only time I have done this; my Dock is always hidden and unused day in and day out, except for testing stuff for this forum; and off it goes again :-)).

AFAICT, file extensions (other than .localized) do not have anything to do with localization. What am I missing?

For what it's worth, Smart Folders work fine for me.

I don't have any "com_apple_FileExtensionAttribute" in the context menu.

Mine's normally hidden as well. Normally I only keep Smart Folders in the Finder Sidebar.

FWIW, if the Smart Folder doesn't work in the Finder Sidebar, it's not going to work in the Dock.
