Back / return to former page in epub Books

i transformed my ibooks author doc to Pages, exported to epub. Included links to internal pages. When I follow a link there is no return to the old page option, there was in the export to .ibooks. I really would like it back.

In Pages, you cannot Bookmark text other than in body text within a word-processing document. This is explained in Add bookmarks and link to them in Pages on Mac - Apple Support.

I just opened an iBooks Author document in Pages v14.4 (Tahoe 26.1) and it defaulted to a Page Layout format document with all text in linked Text boxes. Converting it to a word-processing layout document did not cure the issue as all of the content remained in Text boxes and thus no support for Bookmarks. I would have had to create a blank Pages document and copy/paste the Text box content from the first document to the new document where it would become Body text. Then I could apply Bookmarks and export to EPUB. Not willing to invest that amount of time…

There is no keyboard shortcut in Pages to return from a bookmark to the originally linked word. One must click the Document panel and Bookmarks tab. Then right-click on the specific bookmark and choose Go to Link > word. There are insufficient words for that design oversight…

Although clicking on a word linked to a bookmark works in an EPUB, there is no visual identification of that relationship, nor is there any means to return to the original word or its page in that EPUB. Since importing an iBooks Author document now plays by Pages rules, you are experiencing the context of this paragraph.

Tested: Pages v14.4, macOS Tahoe 26.1 and a 4-page Pages document with bookmark exported to EPUB.
