Apple mail icons next to messages

what are the little purple icons by some of my messages in apple mail with the little building with a window, door and awning? They are in the same spot that personal messages have small photos of the sender. Is there some way to disable this annoying "feature"?

The small purple icon that looks like a storefront (building with a window, door, and awning) is part of Apple’s “Brand Icons / Verified Business Logo” system in iOS Mail.

Apple Mail shows these icons when the sender is recognized as a business domain, even if the business hasn’t uploaded an official logo. In that case, Mail displays a generic business icon — which is the purple storefront you’re seeing.

This icon appears in the same place where personal contacts show profile photos.

thanks...I was afraid that was the case but did not know exactly what it all stood for... Apple is desperately trying to make changes that reduce everything to the lowest common denominator rather than allowing actual customization individually as it was well loved for in the past. Colors have become more important than performance.

sorry for the rant, but this feeling comes over me each week...

cheers,

tom
