Faulting MAIL App

iOS Version : 26.1
Model Name : iPhone 16 Pro Max
Model Number : A3296
Affected App : Apple Mail

Good day to you all

I'm having intermittent issues with Apple Mail where the Mail App will constantly display the following messages just below the INBOX folder of a mailbox when the Mail App is open:

  • John Ness (GMX) • Updated Just Now
  • Updating...
  • Downloading...

It will keep on alternating between the messages.

I have done the following based on other postings in the community:

  • Turned off PUSH in the Mail settings
  • Set FETCH interval to 30 minutes
  • Restarted Mail App
  • Restarted iPhone
  • (Previously: deleted Mail App & reinstalled Mail App)

I currently have five mailbox accounts set up:

  1. John Ness (GMX) [IMAP]
  2. John (Ness) [IMAP]
  3. xxxx (Ness) [IMAP]
  4. John Ness (Openair St.Gallen) [IMAP]
  5. iCloud [presumably IMAP]

The issue can occur with the 1st account or in the 4th account.

I have deleted some other accounts, because deleted e-mails kept reappearing in those accounts.

Questions:

  1. Is there going to be a fix for this? I have read multiple threads with similar issues.
  2. Is this problem a known issue with certain IMAP and/or POP providers?
  3. Is Apple looking into this issue or will I have to switch to alternate non-Apple products?

I appreciate your time and I am looking forward to a real solution.

Best regards, John
