This might be related to a recent change to make older versions of macOS available in the App Store without forcing people to know how to use Apple Support document links to get to them.

If you, e.g., search for "Sequoia", two of the hits that come up are "macOS Sequoia" and a "Story" with the title "Download macOS Versions." While the story says that a standalone installer for the current version of macOS is available for download, there is no link for Tahoe … and the "details on using Software Update" link takes you to Apple Support articles that also do not provide a link for Tahoe.

I wonder if the intent was to force people to use Software Update to install the current version of macOS – and the writers didn't quite get the text on the page to be consistent with that intent.

You can use Terminal to download the full Tahoe installer directly from Apple's servers. Copy/paste the following line into Terminal:

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 26.1

You will be asked for your admin password. When it's done downloading, you'll have Tahoe installer in the Applications folder.

You can then use this Terminal command to create a bootable USB Tahoe installer:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Tahoe.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MyVolume

because running an unsupported macOS on an unsupported machine is CLEARLY prohibited in the macOS license agreement that we, as users, agree to to be able to LEGALLY run macOS. you own your Mac, but apple owns macOS and as such, we are not permitted to help with violations of that agreement in this forum.

You should be aware that macOS 26 Tahoe is not appearing in the Apple Apps Store

Therefore it will be difficult to acquire the Full Version of Tahoe which is Required in-order r to make a Bootable Installer

Predicated on you Apple Computer Qualifies for Tahoe

You may be forested to use a specific Terminal command to manually download the Full Version ( about 17 GB )

Should you what to explore this manual option

Create a bootable installer for macOS

excerpt from above

Do you need a bootable installer?

You don't need a bootable installer to upgrade macOS or reinstall macOS. However, a bootable installer can be useful when those or other macOS installation methods are unsuccessful, or when you want to install macOS on multiple computers without downloading the installer each time.

Creating a bootable installer is not the same as preparing an external storage device for use as a startup disk

From what I have seen here , your intentions were well meaning and should be acknowledged as such

There are times when people intermix Apple Computer with PC and PC meaning Apple Computer

As for what I think may have been written and later moderated

Using a " Hacked " version of macOS on an Un-Qualifying PC / Apple Computer is well, not permitted

PC simply means (and has always meant) Personal Computer. So it is technically correct to refer to a Mac as a PC. As is any computer running Windows, Linux or other.

But, the general shorthand for a Windows computer is PC. People like short names for commonly used phrases and over time, PC came to be the short phrase for any computer running Windows, and Mac for any Apple desktop computer.

Good one there my friend

I was waiting for the " Interest Level " to surface but you bet me to it 👍

Oh ok, sorry about that. I know is a bit silly. But is common sense to call a Windows or other comercial computer that is not an Apple computer PC, like when you ask for a photocopy and you said: “xeroxme this pls”.

About the OpenSource… Well is not permitted but is not forbidden and is for research as I understand, anyway I prefer the Linux option to reuse or revive old Mac, actually Ubuntu is a very good option for that particular problem and somehow similar to macOS. But I don’t know why every time someone mention that it unleashes the anger of the moderators. The blogs and the hole propose of computing is the achievement of knowledge and exact information, obscuring an option that helps to continue to make a hardware useful is the opposite and as far as me, my intentions are ALWAYS good and truthful for the empowerment of human kind.

No ideas why but checked before making this posting

Turkey Day in 🇨🇦 is about 5 weeks earlier

Guess, because the climate here and harvesting may correspond to early to mid October.

No Pilgrims, though

Best to you and family ( eat my share if you would ) lol

I agree on many of your points

Open Source, per se, does not "unleash the anger of the moderators". Open Source refers to the terms on which the source code of a program is made available – not to what a program does. The Firefox Web browser, and the LibreOffice office suite, are two examples of Open Source applications that people frequently mention here – and that appear to be entirely acceptable to the moderators.

Of course, neither of them are designed to help you to

  • Run macOS on non-Apple platforms, or
  • Run a copy of macOS on an Apple platform that is not compatible with it
