Missing photos on new iPhone

I just traded in the 16 pro max for the 17 pro max. After transferring all my data via the Icloud backup, I realized I was missing photos from the last couple of weeks. Everything after those most recents photos are there. But for whatever reason photos that I took on my phone yesterday are no longer there. Any suggestions?
