How do I fix persistent iMessage background after selecting 'None' in iOS 26.1?

Is anyone else who currently has iOS26 or iOS26.1 experiencing issues with changing iMessage backgrounds back to normal? I selected a picture for the background of one of my group messages but decided to change it back to normal. I selected none but the background is still there. I’ve tried this multiple times and was hoping that iOS26.1 would fix this problem but it didn’t. I feel like this update is so full of bugs, it’s crazy.
