Mail app can't verify Gmail after password change

Gmail stuck as offline on Mac mail app, (but available on phone).

I recently had to change my gmail password which I think caused the issue. When I try to remove and add it again in settings- internet accounts (as google or other email address option) it says 'Unable to verify account name or password'

I also tried changing my default browser to chrome which I saw suggested on another thread.

(MacBook Pro 2018, sequoia / most updated)

Solved- just had to delete the gmail account from overall computer Settings- internet accounts. Then re-add it and wait for everything to re sync

Is this the other answer you refer to in your other comment or is this is the one I should ignore.

If this is the answer you mean is still relevant- I don't understand, I have already changed my gmail password on its own. But Apple mail doesn't recognise it as the correct password or something and won't receive or send emails using the account now because it's offline, like it's deactivated. (I don't have this problem on my phone mail app)
