Log-in failure after migration

I have tried to migrate from my MacBook Pro (2015) Monterey 12.7.6, using a Time Machine backup onto my newer MacMini M1, running Sequoia, which I had reset before making the transfer. But when I try to sign-in with my password it locks my account. I used the password from the MacBook. What am I doing wrong?

IIRC you were prompted to create a new password when you migrated. Of course you may have used the same password, or perhaps not.

Was that pre-owned Mini properly prepared for sale as mentioned in the following Apple article?

FYI, I always recommend the new owner of any Mac to follow the steps in that article beginning at the "Erase" step just to make sure the Mac has been properly erased & is ready for you.....it may also reveal whether a previous owner still has control over the Mac or other possible issues.
