Is Apple Watch Series 10 waterproof for swimming without a case?

Watch series 10 waterproof. I have been told by an authorized repair centre (iStore) that series 10 has to have a waterproof case fitted if used for swimming, which is confusing because the data states swimming to 50 meters.
