Apple Watch Owner Counting Steps without Watch. Is it possible?

Hello. I found this was asked in 2021, but I was hoping something has changed. I compete with my son for steps, closing rings, etc. I have an Ultra and my phone. How can I make it so that my steps show up on my phone when I am not wearing my watch, its out of battery, etc.? I see that my rings close, but my steps are at 0. It basically looks like I did nothing all day.

I know one solution is to delete the watch, but I don't want to do that. Thank you!
