15.7.2 Update - Can't connect to my display now

Hi! I updated to 15.7.2 (24G325) on my Mac Studio M2 Ultra yesterday and now my thunderbolt 5k display will not connect. When I change the display settings inside the monitor from display port version 1.4 to 1.2 it works at 50hz in 5k. When I switch it to what it is supposed to be 1.4.... it loses signal.

Things I've tried.

  • reinstalled the OS on top (didn't wipe)
  • took it to apple (couldn't find an issue)
  • changed cables
  • turned everything off for 10 minutes and unplugged it all
  • My Macbook Pro works just fine in 5k 72hz

Not sure what else to try. Feels like its a bug with the exact setup.

Heres the monitor I have.

LG 40WP95C-W 40”

Any help would be awesome! Thank you!

Hey!

I found your issue and I had the same. I spent my whole morning trying to fix it with different cables, hubs, lots of procedures, safe boot, blahblablah. Nothing.

I fixed it in the OSD: there is a switch to activate (I don't know suddenly after the update it would not work as before). You need to go to general, Thunderbold OUT and activate this option in the OSD of the LG40WP95C. It sounds silly but after that it re-worked as before...

I hope that everyone does not have to buy a cable for 80 bucks to make it work and this quick fix can be helpful.

Sounds like your existing cable(s) are not up to par.

You need to test a short 1m Apple ThunderBolt 5 Pro Cable.

Or a short High Speed USB-C to DisplayPort 2.1 cable.

If neither of those work, contact LG Support.
