Recommendations on upgrading from Sequoia to Tahoe on fairly new Mac studio?

Have fairly new Mac studio that I haven't even loaded my old data onto. Any recommendations on whether to go ahead and upgrade to Tahoe or should I wait. Thanks.

Mac Studio, macOS 15.7

What are you waiting for? Some mythical version of the OS that has no issues or bugs? If you wait for that you'll never upgrade, as every upgrade causes some problem for someone somewhere. So: make a back up. make 2. Upgrade. If the upgrade causes you an issue then roll back with one of the back ups. But most likely it won't, and like 10s of millions of other Mac users, just go on with your life.

A Mac Studio is an Apple Silicon Computer, right ?

As of right now, all Apple Silicon computers qualify to run macOS 26 Tahoe

Since Apple built this machine to their specifications

Not doubt they may have Tested your type of machine using Tahoe and it should work just fine

The caveats being;

1 - What Third Party Softwares has been installed

2 - What unique modifications has the user implemented on the current Operating System

This could be a factor in both upgrading and a smooth transition from Sequoia to Tahoe

It is usually suggested to have at least 50 - 60 GB of Free space so the installer can download, then expand and only then commence the installation process

There are 4 Categories of Third Party Software / Services that are not needed

Get rid of them via the Developers Instruction

In no special order

1- Third Party 2 Way Firewalls

2 - Commercial VPNs

3 - Third Party Security Software

4 - Third Party Disk Cleaners / Optimizer

Tahoe has had a few updates so it should be fairly tested by now.

In our house we are going to go by a store and see what a computer looks like running Tahoe. From my reading of its "improvements" I am not seeing anything that interests me (e.g., we have intelligence turned off), plus there is the question about Liquid Glass. Some love it and others hate it. While it is technically possible to downgrade Tahoe to Sequoia again, it is a nuisance. I am not all that attracted by the description of LG and you cannot disable it. So we are going to go to a store selling Macs and have a look before we do any upgrading.

Hello,

Personally, I would recommend upgrading but of course, everyone haves different options.

Tahoe introduces a Liquid Glass display, upgraded apple intelligence, and a lot others such as a new phone app. And security and performance improvements..ish.

There are some downsides, Tahoe is pretty new and some app developers have not updated their app to be fully compatible with it which either bricks the whole app or some features may break (shouldn't be too common if your downloading on the App Store). There might still be some bugs that slipped through testing and other betas.

Overall, I haven't had too much issues with it nothing major, if you want to play it safe and wait a while for a few more stable public releases I would do that so I wouldn't have to deal with issues later on.
