In Mac mail, when I use the search box very often among the returns I will see unread emails. I have a smart mailbox set up to show all unread emails. There's nothing in there. Also, if I select all mailboxes in the sidebar, I see a lot of unread emails. This is a big problem. I haven't been able to figure out an answer for it. Would really appreciate some help.

If you have Message Filter on Turn it off
If you are using Categories, turn them off
Check your mail behaviours for the account
Check you Rules to make sure the emails are not getting moved or deleted
No, nothing coming to mind.
You can delete the account and re-add it to Mail to see if that help. It will redownload all your messages from the mail server.

Now, the mail icon shows around 4000 unread messages, but none of my mailboxes show anything other than the most current incoming mail. I'm poking around in the app to find any unread messages, but haven't turned anything up. Anything come to mind from here?
