When I click on the Junk folder, I get a popup “Cannot load Junk. Messages cannot be displayed at this time. Try again later.” It’s been a week, using different computers - iPad/Safari and Windows/Edge - and the message hasn’t changed.

Have you gone to the providers website and looked at the junk folder on their servers?
You could try removing the email account from Mail and re-adding it to Mail to see if it fixes the problem.
It was my iCloud account being viewed in a web browser. I set up the Mail app on my iPad and used it instead - and the Junk could be read/ deleted. Wouldn’t want to say it was the Cloud Mail reader that was at fault - but it was. Thanks for your reply!
