Formatting Sandisk SSD as exFAT for Blackmagic Atem Mini Pro ISO on iMac M4

I have a Sandisk 2 TB SSD that I need to format as EX-FAT for use on my Blackmagic Atem Mini Pro ISO but my iMac M4 will only allow me APFS how can I resolve this?

The following should be the proper way to format this SSD with exFAT:

  1. Open Disk Utility.
  2. In the top-left menu, click View > Show All Devices. This reveals the physical SSD, not just its volumes.
  3. Select the drive itself (not the indented volume underneath).
  4. Click Erase. For Format, choose exFAT. For Scheme, select GUID Partition Map.
  5. Click Erase to finish.
