"No Subject" shows up to recipients in group texts if there is a non-iPhone user in the group.
For years I have dealt with this issue. It started with my last phone, the 11 Pro, where every time I was in a group message thread, using the built-in Messages app, with a mix of iPhone and Android users, all of the recipients in the group would see "No Subject" over all of my texts. On my end, it does not show the subject field.
I have ensured that MMS is enabled, Show Subject is disabled, toggled back and forth, deleted threads and restarted threads, and the problem still remains. I have spoken with my carrier, GCI (Alaska), and they cannot find a reason it would be doing this.
I just got the iPhone 17 Pro Max and was really hoping this would clear the issue, especially with getting an e-sim finally, but the problem still remains. With the new e-sim came a carrier reprovisioning and that still did not clear the issue.
In group messages with only iPhone users the problem does not occur, only when there is an android present. I am the only person in the group to have their messages show up with the subject field. Again, the setting is turned off and I cannot see it myself, only the recipients can see it.
Has anyone else ever had this issue and how was it resolved? Thank you
