What turntable is this (make & model)?

Is it a USB turntable or are you running it through an audio interface (and if so, what is it)?

You won't hear audio from a USB input through your Mac's speakers or headphone out unless you use an app that can do pass-through or an audio routing app. @den.thed has provided links to such apps.

I'd suggest Rogue Amoeba's Audio Hijack or if you prefer DIY use Blackhole Audio.

Two other suggestions, if you also want to do audio editing; they both do pass-through so you can hear the audio the same time you capture (record) it.
