I have an Apple keyboard which works just fine with my 2014 mac mini running Monterey. I tried hooking it up to my 2017 MBP, and it does not get recognized.

I looked in the System Information, and it did not show up on any of the 4 Thunderbolt 4 ports.

I tried all 4 ports. No luck.

I swapped USB-A to USB-C adapter. No luck. FWIW both adapters have no problems with other USB-A devices.

I rebooted. No luck.

I reset the SMC. No luck

I zapped the PRAM. No luck.

I rebooted again. No luck.

I booted into safe mode. No luck.

IIRC, I used this same keyboard with this same machine before I retired without any problem (back in 2020).

The keyboard is an A1243, Product ID 0x024F, Version 0.74.

Pray tell, what magic incantation do I need to get it to just work.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 13.7
